Update: August 2017. From the moment we walked into the door of the Stone Gate Inn in Orillia Ontario, we were made to feel like we were right at home. The hotel receptionist greeted us like we were old friends coming in for a visit and was interested in our plans for the weekend. She gave us a run down of all the hotel features and told us that since there is an event at the hotel, they upgraded us to a luxury suite for a quieter stay. So for my second visit, I was not surprised to see that things had not changed much. Once again I had an executive suite on the fourth floor of the hotel, so I knew what to expect.

Great Location for the Stone Gate Inn Orillia Ontario

The Stone Gate Inn has 48 hotel suites are classified as either a Studio, Executive or Luxury Suites. Located just a short drive from downtown Orillia, but if you prefer a more luxury or boutique hotel experience, then this hotel is a great option. Here’s a walk through of the executive suite room I stayed at during my second visit which was not much different from the luxury suite, other than it was a bit smaller.

Stone Gate Inn Executive and Luxury Suite

The suites are like staying in a condo suite.  Everything you need is available, from the grocery store steps away, a full kitchen, living space and bedroom. The bedroom had a large king sized bed, television and plenty of storage.

The bathroom featured a shower and soaking tub, sink and robes. Very spacious bathroom with two door entrances one from the bedroom and another from the main hallway.

We had a small kitchenette which included a full-size refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. There were also dishes and cutlery and two stools in front of the sit-in Kitchen table.

The suite’s living space was great with a comfy sofa, television and fireplace. There was also an excellent desk space to work off of and free wifi throughout the inn.

We didn’t have time to enjoy it, but the inn also has a lovely pool and fitness area.

Fireside Lounge & Complimentary Breakfast Service

The Fireside Lounge was a favourite spot at the hotel and had a little complimentary reception in the evening when we arrived with some nibbles. There were many people inside the lounge having a drink and chatting. The inn featured a complimentary breakfast each morning inside the lounge. It was an excellent continental breakfast which included bread, bagels, pastries, fruit, cereal and more. I loved their little messages on the bananas during my first stay.

I said when I started that the staff made me feel right at home. As I was browsing the bananas, one of the staff members (who did not know who I was) said: “I think this banana is the perfect one for you!” I have no idea how she knew, but I believe she made an excellent choice!

Travel assistance provided by Ontario’s Lake Country, and the Stone Gate Inn, however, the opinions expressed in this post are my own. Ontario’s Lake Country is located within the tourism region of Bruce Grey Simcoe and is known as Orillia and area’s four-season playground.

  1. We stayed at Stonegate Inn in early August and enjoyed ourselves so much we are going back next week. Such a refreshing change from the usual hotels. It is so quiet there at night and enables you to get a sound sleep in a very comfortable bed. We couldn’t fault this establishment if we tried and can only praise them all. Kudos! The meals are delicious as well.
