Photo Essay: Discover Ontario Fall Fairs and Events

As the last leaves on the tree in my front yard fall to the ground, I have to reminisce about the amazing road trips I took over the past two months thanks to my partnership with Ontario Central Counties Tourism. They sent me on the ultimate road trip, to experience the many Ontario fall fairs, art exhibits and fall events happening in the Central Counties region. One of my friends noted how great I look all glowing like I had just come back from vacation and I realized over the past few months as a guest blogger for Central Counties I have been taking many little vacations each weekend as I travelled through the province. I’m so blessed to have been given this great opportunity to discover the region I live in I thought I would share some of the best pictures taken during these many events and drives! Ontario is truly magical during the fall!

Ontario’s Fall Fairs

Orangeville Fall Fair Truck Pull
Orangeville Fall Fair Truck Pull – My first truck pull, an exciting sport where 4×4 trucks in several weight categories compete to pull a weighted trailer the farthest!
Port Perry Fair - Harness Racing
Port Perry Fair – Harness Racing – An afternoon of races at the Port Perry Fair.

Ontario Fall Fairs Fun for Entire Family

I had never witnessed a demolition derby before and was quite shocked to see so many families taking in the event. The demolition participants dressed up their cars in fun themes and this truly was an exciting event to sit and watch with the kids.

Port Perry Fair - Demolition Derby
Port Perry Fair – Demolition Derby – I found myself cheering with the crowd as these cars did their best to smash into each other! A very popular event at Ontario’s Fall Fairs!
Orno Fair 2013 - Horse Jumping
Orno Fair 2013 – Horse Jumping – Some of the horses were not as keen to take the leap as this one, but a very fun event to watch at the Orno Fair.
Uxbridge Fair - Horse Pull
Uxbridge Fair – Horse Pull – I remember how shocked I was when I first saw this event. The horses are so well trained and the owners very careful about how much weight their teams could pull.
Landslide Possible Futures Markham
Landslide Possible Futures Markham – This modern art exhibit was fascinating, old museum building mixed with new art installations, and these amazing sunflowers all over the grounds with the changing leaves behind them.
Erin Fall Fair_kissing cows
Erin Fall Fair – Loved meeting all the great animals at the fairs, but these kissing cows made my heart melt!
Ontario Fudge - What would an Ontario road trip be without a taste of some fresh Fudge!

Bowmanville Apple Fest - The city of Bowmanville proves that a little rain doesn't dampen the spirits of a great festival devoted to fresh Ontario apples!

The small town of Erin, certainly had the biggest pumpkins on display of all the fairs I travelled to.

Again, special thank you to everyone at Central Counties Tourism for this amazing experience. If you are looking to take a mini break and need some ideas visit their website and take an Ontario road trip of your own!
