I learned a new Spanish word Alameda which means tree-lined avenue. At the Iberostar Alameda, Varadero the tree-lined avenue runs straight through the center of the resort. A beautiful boulevard with water fountains and cafes inspired by some of Cuba’s famous historical boulevards.
Iberostar Playa Alameda Location
Located in Varadero, Cuba, approximately 41km (25 miles) from Varadero Airport. There are 391 rooms at the resort which all have balconies or terraces. These rooms are located in bungalow buildings located on both sides of the long boulevard.
Standard Room Iberostar Alameda
The rooms include all the amenities and furnishings you expect from a resort in Cuba. Most of the standard rooms have double beds and a sitting area and include:
- Bathroom with shower
- Hairdryer
- Satellite TV
- Minibar
- Safe
- Iron and ironing board
- Coffeemaker
- Balcony/terrace
- Phone
Above the Ranchon Playa Bucanero, one of the dining areas at the end of the main tree-lined boulevard is an observation deck with a great view of the boulevard and beach area. Climb the steps to the top and enjoy a room with a view.

Dining Options
In the main buffet building, there were large photos from famous boulevards in Cuba hung above the large windows and around the circular room. Most of the guests don’t realize how this resort pays homage to them. Tree-lined boulevards are a common theme of this Varadero resort.
Other restaurants on the property include:
- Don Alfredo Restaurant (Italian a la carte)
- Bucanero Restaurant (Mediterranean a la carte)
- Ranchón Bucanero Restaurant (Cuban & international a la carte)
- Romántico Restaurant (Gourmet a la carte, for couples celebrating a special occasion)
- Main Restaurant (International buffet)
- 6 bars
- One ice cream saloon
The Iberostar Almeda Beach
Like all Varadero hotels, the Iberostar Almeda has an impressive beach. The huts are spaced far enough apart to give you some space under the shade and a little privacy from your neighbour. The resort’s animation team spent the morning on the beach getting guests to participate in some beach activities and then moved to the main pool.
Iberostar Alameda Pools
You will find pools along both sides of the main boulevard in the centre of the property. The pools have water features, are surrounded by beach chairs with a few shady escapes. Personally, I would have liked to see more shade in the form of umbrellas around the pool.
The resort also has a children’s pool and play area as part of their kid’s club. This is a smaller and quieter space for families with small children.
